The primary purpose of this role is to lead development resources and participate in the efforts to solve complex technical problems to deliver vital, reliable product features to our customers. You will be hands-on, planning, developing, deploying, and releasing solutions in an agile environment. You will help develop people for the long term, recruiting, training, promoting, and advocating for your direct reports. The expectations for this role will be 75% hands on technical and 25% people management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of technical solutions that are secure, robust, performant, and scalable
  • Employ technical and thought leadership to drive products from inception to release
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure the solution meets business needs
  • Write correct, well-factored code that is testable and maintainable, and that demonstrates best practices
  • Balance engineering costs of development, testing, deployment complexity, and run-time cost, to deliver optimum value for the business and customers
  • Responsible for people development, resource management and enhancing overall productivity
  • Identify and recruit internal/external talents to ensure effective mix of competencies
  • Set and communicate team/individual objectives and KPIs to inspire individuals to achieve high performance
  • Implement development plans and coach individuals to reach their maximum talent
  • Provide regular constructive feedback on performance/development and address performance issues in a timely manner
  • Recognize high performers to maintain motivation and retain key talent

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • Exceptional communication skills

Experience

  • 8+ years of significant hands-on product development experience focused primarily on:
    • Designing and building highly scalable consumer facing web applications
    • Developing with modern JavaScript frameworks (extensive Angular experience a must)
    • Consuming RESTful web services.
    • Implementing responsive HTML/CSS
  • 3+ years of experience in each of the following:
    • Version control and continuous integration
    • Agile software development life cycle–from concept to delivery
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Advocate of front-end testing and test-driven development
  • Expertise in web security and performance best practices.
  • 2-4 years relevant leadership experience (Preferred)
  • Experience and knowledge of the industry (Preferred)
