The world loves Postgres. If you work with developers or data scientists or anyone wrangling data, you’ll probably see a sticker with the tusks and trunk of the Postgres elephant on the lid of a nearby laptop. EDB has a lot to do with that.

We’ve been major contributors to Postgres since the beginning, and we are proud to call thousands of boundary pushing customers our partners. Proud though we are, we are not resting on our laurels. There’s plenty of work to do. The good news is that everything we do will impact Postgres, which is to say that it will impact the world. No pressure.

  • Candidate Note: This is a 100% remote position for candidates based in the EU or UK**

We are currently looking for a hands-onSenior Platform Software Engineerwho is experience in Golang to join our EDB Engineering team with a focus on Postgres scalability and tooling.

As a member of the team, you’ll work on designing and building the future of Postgres development tooling.

What Your Impact Will Be

  • Developing practical, easy-to-use tooling and processes
  • Leveraging cloud environments to scale our development, testing, and build systems
  • Improving the performance and usability of existing tools and automated systems
  • Collaborating with engineers throughout EDB to ensure we are using standard methodologies to build scalable, secure, and operationally sound tools and systems
  • Documenting and evangelizing tooling for use by engineers for the development, testing, and packaging of their products

What You Will Bring

  • Strong desire to eliminate tediousness in daily work for all engineers
  • Experience with Golang, Python, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Packer
  • Experience with major cloud providers: AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
  • Familiarity with microservice, distributed, and event-driven architectures
  • Solid understanding of Linux/UNIX and comfortable working in a command line-centric environment
  • Experience developing, implementing and maintaining IaC (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed international team
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Calm and methodical approach with good communication skills

What Will Give You An Edge

  • In-depth understanding of databases, SQL, and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
  • Experience with Observability Systems
  • Proficiency in automating and optimizing SDLC processes
  • In-depth knowledge of Unix systems and networking technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of virtualization technologies
  • Experience working within a “you build it, you own it” culture
